Incorporated on 15th June 2009 as a wholly owned subsidiary of SIRIM Berhad, the company was formerly known as SIRIM Precision Tooling (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and changed to current name of National Precision Tooling Sdn. Bhd. (NPT) in 1st April 2010. The company was established as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to lead the implementation of government-mandated project for the “Development of Bumiputera Automotive Tools, Dies and Moulds Industry (TDM project)”.
The main objectives of the TDM project is to expedite the capability and capacity development and enhancement of the bumiputera TDM industry clusters, and to increase their participation in the TDM business specially with respect to the opportunities presented by the local automotive manufacturing sector for import substitution, as well as export potential.
