About the company

Incorporated on 15th June 2009 as a wholly owned subsidiary of SIRIM Berhad, the company was formerly known as SIRIM Precision Tooling (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and changed to current name of National Precision Tooling Sdn. Bhd. (NPT) in 1st April 2010. The company was established as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to lead the implementation of government-mandated project for the “Development of Bumiputera Automotive Tools, Dies and Moulds Industry (TDM project)”.

The main objectives of the TDM project is to expedite the capability and capacity development and enhancement of the bumiputera TDM industry clusters, and to increase their participation in the TDM business specially with respect to the opportunities presented by the local automotive manufacturing sector for import substitution, as well as export potential.

Development programmes

Coaching and Certification Development (CCB)

Enhance the capabilities of beneficiary companies through training, coaching towards certification, as well as calibration and certification activities.

  • Coaching through SIRIM Innovative & Creative Circle (ICC) program.
  • Specific coaching in management and technical to meet customer needs.
  • Training and Certification requirements through SIRIM ICC assessment.

Equipment Acquisition Programme (EAP)

Acquisition of identified new TDM related machinery and equipment by NPT

  • New high technology machinery/equipment and design facilities.
  • Machinery/equipment and design facilities to be placed at beneficiary companies.
  • Beneficiary companies will utilize the machinery/equipment and design facilities for their manufacturing activities.

Design Capability Development (DCD)

To strengthen design capabilities through the effective use of CAD/CAM/CAE software

  • Acquisition of CAD/CAM/CAE software with floating licenses by NPT.
  • The software is designed to be shared and accessed by beneficiary companies.
